Crews demolished boarded-up structures on the 1500 site.
Preparation for this demolition had been underway for a number of months, including permits and paperwork, environmental study, remediation, and utility disconnects.
Heavy equipment, including the long-armed excavator, remains on site to do additional clean-up and clearance work.
