1500 Exterior Rendering April 30, 2008

A series of 3D studies led to the exterior rendering of the facility.

We collaborated with talented artists at Melham Associates, PC to generate the drawing that decorates the front page of this site.

1500's exuberant visual design is inspired by the South Beach art deco style. The facade is envisioned to be comprised of exterior stucco walls, tiles along the first floor and column enclosures, and a panoramic, glazed ribbon wall system wrapping around the building. Joints where columns and beams intersect along the east and west facades are ornamented by a signature motif.

The convex south facade arcs towards the downtown, embracing views of the Capitol dome from even the second level residences. Arched dormers crown the loft level, both to admit natural light as well as soften the building's roofline. Aluminum hoops, dubbed "flying spandrels," pronounce the building's identity by leaping out off of the building, and complement its curved forms. The east and west facades of the building have private outdoor covered terraces for all their respective residences.

A vertical red neon element at the southeastern corner of the building, as well as indirect illumination underneath the covered loggias and from within the hollow space between the flying spandrels and the building, limn the building at night, without light pollution.

Covered loggias shade the east and west facades of the retail level, and double as garden terraces with a depth of 18 feet for the residences at the second level.
